Story: Twenty-three-year-old Mitch lost his parents in a tragic car accident at the age of fourteen, and his girlfriend to a terrorist attack just as they were engaged. Seeking revenge, he is enlisted by CIA Deputy Director Irene Kennedy as black ops recruit. Kennedy then assigns Cold War veteran Stan Hurley to train Mitch. Together they will, later on, investigate a wave of apparently random attacks on military and civilian targets. The discovery of a pattern in the violence leads them to a joint mission with a lethal Turkish agent to stop a mysterious operative intent on starting a world war in the Middle East.
Likes: Film based on the novel by Vince Flynn with the concept of a tragic event in one man life turns in to a revenge story which takes him on a path that leads to being recruited by CIA (criminal investigation agency) to track down random attacks.
Dylan O'Brien (star of the teen wolf) doesn't do a bad job playing the lead action role with his character Mitch Rapp, start off with a solid background story to ground the film concept with a tragic event of his girlfriend Katrina played by Charlotte Vega.
This drives him to go after those responsible for the tragic event in which give the film a brutal start to the film, Dylan performance throughout the film is brilliant and give's realism to the character which helps you believe in what goes on.
Michael Keaton is also brilliant and well cast for this role as a former Cold War CIA BlackK OPS veteran stan hurley who is in charge of training men to do unsanctioned mission know as black ops, Keaton does a great performance in making this character work it really suits him as well in playing Stan. Clear what the film does show is a twist in stan story as something from his past comes back to haunt him.
Few cameos some from two you may know Scott Adkins and David Suchet who were good casting for their roles, with the action you do get some great actions special with an intense moment at the end.
The film does have a lot of hands to hand combat scene that is brutal which is why this film has been given an 18 certification with good reason, special with some seriously brutal scene at the beginning and mostly all the way through the film with some full frontal nudity.
At best this was a pretty average spy thriller with some great action and compelling revenge concept, there is area of the film questionable at times but overall a pretty underrated film with an average story I felt myself could've been better, but everyone has their own point of view soi would leave that up to you to think for your self to whether you liked the film.
Dislikes: There is a questionable scene midway through in a fight scene that I feel could've ended the fight straight away but that nit-picking.
There a scene toward the end that was seriously questionable with the timer as the time set would have been past the point of where the ending event ended. Those were the only two things I noticed.
Question for the audience: Do you feel this was a pretty average film that could've been better? or do you feel the film was good as it is?
Overall: an average concept for action spy thriller, the pacing is a little slow, acting is brilliant.
Rating: 4.3 out of 5 for entertainment / 7.8 out of 10 for a concept.

Parents advised reading before viewing a film as some scene may contain scenes unsuitable for younger viewers.
Sex & Nudity:
- Nudity is high scene of frontal nudity.
- There may be shots of men shirtless
Violence & Gore: (Severe)
- a lot of Violence. Based on the book, there are a few torture scenes and planned the assassination. showing blood.
Profanity: Moderate
- F-word is used a few times
- Profanity is also most likely. Based on the book (again), Mitch Rapp, the main character, is portrayed as a tough guy and takes no jokes. He would swear if necessary. Another main character, Stan Hurley, is known as a foul mouth guy. He curses just for the sake of it and looks down at others., except strong language.
- Based on the book, there are no scenes of substance abuse but smoking and alcohol drinking.
Frightening/Intense Scenes: Severe
- The torture scene may be frightening and may be sensitive to some viewers.
- Intense scenes. As we all know, this is a thriller.
- Suggested MPPA Rating: R for Strong Violence, Including Torture, Persuasive Language, and Brief Sexuality/Nudity
