Parents advised reading before viewing the film as some scene may contain scenes unsuitable for younger viewers.

Sex & Nudity: There's a sex scene in a hotel where a woman is sleeping and she is fully nude. Women are giving men lap dances inside a strip club.

Violence & Gore: There are graphic details of violence. A man is shot in the hand. A man is shot in the head. There's an intense bank robbery scene where a man says he'll kill a hostage. There's another scene where the Regulators and Outlaws get into a shootout. There are many deaths and this is the most violent and suspense-filled scene of the film.

Profanity:  There are many uses of the word "Fuck" along with its derivatives and other minor cuss words. There are about five uses of the word "Nigga,"

Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking: There are a couple of scenes in a bar where one of the main characters is a bartender and serves drinks to anyone.

Frightening/Intense Scenes: Suggested MPAA Rating: Rated R for strong violence, language throughout, and some sexuality/nudity.
The shootout scene is very intense and bloody. There's another scene where Gerard Butler confronts Pablo Schreiber and his crew in a restaurant, very intense.

Story: A gritty Los Angeles crime saga which follows the intersecting and often personally connected lives of an elite unit of the LA County Sheriff's Dept. and the state's most successful bank robbery crew as the outlaws plan a seemingly impossible heist on the Federal Reserve Bank of downtown Los Angeles.

Likes: Den of thieves is actually what you get with a hard-hitting gritty story, with a completely entertaining and fun ride through some surprisingly complex characters and an unexpectedly intricate game of cat and mouse.

There has been a few reviews that are calling this a comparisons to Heat, they are somewhat warranted in a certain way with this film. Obviously, this doesn't hold the gravitas of a mid-90's DeNiro/Pacino face-off, but plot structure, pacing and character development in the Los Angeles backdrop were all familiar scenes.

Gerard Butler playing a hard ass, wise-cracking special crimes department sheriff with a team of what look like ex-special forces that wont brings you in by cuffs they will just gun you down. This is where Gerard shine more on screen in a full-on action film that well paced and entertaining as he tracks down a bunch are hard criminals after a series of bank robbed.

Pablo Schreiber who is 2 films away from playing the main role in his career with a performance like this, playing an ex-hard ass marine turn criminal along with a gang played by 50centEvan Jones and O'Shea Jackson Jr who the son of the legendary rapper Ice cube as they play cat and mouse with Gerards character.

The stunt work is well choreographed with the gunfights, special the car shootout scene which is very intense at times, with the story alone it can be predictable in places but does offer some surprise along the way with some funny moments with the prom date as well as the banter between Gerard and Jordan Bridges character with this macho insults which was funny.

Although this film is pretty good it doesn't match up to heat but is good in it own way, but its a film that might not appeal to everyone but if you a fan of Gerard action film this is definitely worth checking out.

Dislikes: I do feel as if there should have been a reason for the special crimes unit to go after the team other than explaining certain thing from the past, I feel it could've been in the film more to give the story a bit more depth.

Overall: Great film, good acting, good action, good cat and mouse story.

Rating: 5 out of 5 for Entertainment / 8.2 out of 10 for the concept.
