Story: The story begins when ace detective Harry Goodman goes mysteriously missing, prompting his 21-year-old son Tim to find out what happened. Aiding in the investigation is Harry's former Pokémon partner, Detective Pikachu: a hilariously wise-cracking, adorable super-sleuth who is a puzzlement even to himself. Finding that they are uniquely equipped to communicate with one another, Tim and Pikachu join forces on a thrilling adventure to unravel the tangled mystery. Chasing clues together through the neon-lit streets of Ryme City--a sprawling, modern metropolis where humans and Pokémon live side by side in a hyper-realistic live-action world--they encounter a diverse cast of Pokémon characters and uncover a shocking plot that could destroy this peaceful co-existence and threaten the whole Pokémon universe.

Likes: First of all never played Pokemon, I'm not a die-hard fan of pokemon I don't know the lore behind the pokemon, so im base this review off of what I saw. For a Game adaption from a massive fanbase game, this is actually really good, I don't think it needs the pokemon battles which im pretty sure might hurt the film for some fans, but it does explain the past and why these battle our no longer around.

which is great in giving teh audience that knows absolutely no clue about pokemon as the film gives you a brief history in a narrative. The Cinematics with the CGI is incredibly done with all the character of the pokemon world, Pikachu voice by Ryan Reynolds who you could tell he wants to go full Ryan Renolds which he slighty did, which is a light Funny moment, but this film just wouldn't be the same with him Voicing this role.

Justice Smith from what a saw is a damn good actor played this role as Tim Goodman, Portraying a young man felt abandon by his father after losing his mother, to find out something happens which set him on a path to find the truth.

Kathryn Newton role-playing Lucy Stevens was good, though her character I feel could have been written better, which seem more of a side character than the main character but other than that this was good acting by her.

The humor is spot on, especial where there are comical moments throughout the film, Ryan is funny which make Justice Smith and Ryan perfect par up in a buddy cop style pokemon film because there was a lot of moments that had the audience laughing. So this is a great film, not perfect but great adaption of the game with a change in the story that your family and kids will love.

The story side is great because it changes the stories from being a battle film to a heartfelt story with a direction which maybe appeals to fans, but im not sure about the die-hard fans, but it's a film I recommend watching for yourself especially if you fan or your just looking for a good film.

Dislikes:
  • This film I do feel could've had some fan service by giving more Pokemon battles I feel this may hurt the film because die-hard fans might not like it.
  • The story is great but not perfect there are some weak point in the film story with a fairly daft villain plot twist, The emotional part is a little weak in the story concerning the father situation because we're not really giving reasonable care, which is a weak point in the story, but everything else is great

Overall: Comical moments, Great adaption from teh game, Brilliant acting, Great cast, a must watch.

Rating: 5 out of 5 for Entertainment / 8 out of 10 for Game / Amination adaption.
