Film Review: Jumanji 3: Next Level

Genre:  Action, Adventure, Comedy

Cert: 12A

Director: Jake Kasdan

Screenwriter: (written by) Jake Kasdan, Jeff Pinkner, Scott Rosenberg, (based on the book "Jumanji" by) Chris Van Allsburg

Starring: Karen Gillan, Dwayne Johnson, Marin Hinkle, Madison Iseman, Jack Black, Ashley Scott, Awkwafina, Danny DeVito,  Nick Jonas, Kevin Hart, Colin Hanks, Alex Wolff, Dania Ramirez, Morgan Turner, Rory McCann

Running time: 2h 3min

Parents advised reading before viewing the film as some scenes may contain scenes unsuitable for younger viewers.

Sex & Nudity: References to testicles and eunuchs.

Violence & Gore: Moderate action violence including punches, acrobatic kicks and use of nunchucks. The fighting is exaggerated (characters often fly across the screen or through walls, for example).

Profanity:  One use of b*tch. Other mild languages such as cr*p and b*stard.

Used the word phrase GD in the first 5 or so minutes of the movie and it was totally unnecessary.

It also uses the word F*** when 2 characters are sitting at the table. Mainly all curse words come from 1 character.

Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking: None

Frightening/Intense Scenes:  Like Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle, will probably be PG-13 for adventure action, suggestive content and some language

A pack of angry mandrills and a herd of stampeding ostriches attack the heroes.

Several characters 'die', often in a brief shower of red liquid, but respawn almost immediately.

The villain threatens to behead a couple of characters. He also feeds what is said to be human meat to some hyenas.

Story: The gang is back but the game has changed. As they return to Jumanji to rescue one of their own, they discover that nothing is as they expect. The players will have to brave parts unknown and unexplored, from the arid deserts to the snowy mountains, in order to escape the world's most dangerous game.

Likes: After the first film which was a Sequel to the Robin Williams Jumanji you kind of wonder could they make another great sequel, well yes and no, while I do like the sequel next level I do have some issue with it while I found it entertaining in alot of place.

I understand that they had to tweak a few things to keep it interesting and while the story looks familiar to the first film, you have to forgive this as the film is based on a video game world this is basically all most games are like.

With the original cast returning which help the film with Martha ( Karen Gillan / Morgan Turner), Eddie ( Dwayne Johnson/ Alex Wolff), Bethany (Madison Iseman / Jack black), Fridge ( Kevin Hart / Ser'Darius Blain), Alex ( Nick Jonas / Colin Hanks ) with Three additional characters from Awkwafina, Danny DeVito and Danny Glover who do bring some emotional and funny content to the film, while certain aspects of the film are kind of dragging the film down slightly.

Some of the humor and action scene have been one up for the sequence (no pun intended), giving some very funny scenes and the action given a very intense feel as the steaks are higher as seen in the trailer with mandarin which was pretty intense. Also giving a more intense villian actually helps the film was well, giving a villian that ruthless in a barbarian way that if you do something wrong he feeds you to the animals.

While I will say yes this sequel to welcome to the jungle is good, there is certain character direction which could have been changed a little, which dragged the film down a little for me as I feel that they could've been other character it would have been funnier.

Dislikes: Not that Danny Devito and Danny Glover are good actors they are brilliant actor, but the direction in character didnt fit them like Danny being Doctor brave stone and Glover being Mouse Finbar their personality for these characters we're all off, it show through most of the film which drags it down, while the emotional scene really hits the heart.

I do feel as if they should have swap Danny Devito for Ming played brilliant and funny by Awkwafina through the whole film because her challenge Danny Devito was hilarious but you get this swap toward the end of the film, which sadly playing the other character drag the film down I just didn't feel them playing these character but that just IMO.

Overall: Great entertainment, funny in places, great adventure feel, a certain direction could've been changed

Rating: 5 out of 5 for Entertainment / 7.8 out of 10 for Sequel
