Story: Set in a world where mystical creatures live side by side with humans. A human cop is forced to work with an Orc to find a weapon everyone is prepared to kill for.
Likes: From the director of the suicide squad David Avery bring's us a fantasy style world in a modern day world where we meet alien nation, lord of the rings, training day and
end of watch mixed style film; where two cops end up in the middle of a blood feud between dark elf's for a magic wand that only bright can hold.
I can see why critic has ripped into this because there are a few flaws in this film, I don't think these critics understand destiny or lure type of story's which is what this story is about.
Although it not really explained well to what actually happened to the world something happens 2000 year before with a dark lord, which five races band together to fight against and won. Now centuries on some of the dark elf called inferni want to bring the dark lord back which leads to a Prophecy of unknown origin at this time.
The world is set in a mixture of reality and fantasy where elf, fairy, orcs and humans live in the same world, where the cop has become more hardened to the world and some cops have become bent and the FBI is now a magic control government.
Will Smith plays the typical hard up cop Daryl Ward who close to retirement, who doesn't really give a damn about the world around him and hate orc's, who team up with Nick Jakoby who an orc cop played brilliantly by Joel Edgerton, kind of reminds me of lethal weapon in a way with alien nation where they aren't friends but end up be really close friends.
Edgar Ramírez brilliant as the head of the FBI magic team who seem to be on a mission to hunt someone down, Noomi Rapace playing Leilah damn perfect as the villain with a cold vicious ruthlessness that was perfect for a dark servant, her performance is brilliant.
The action wise of this film is brilliantly done with this non-stop action when the crap hit the fan as they stuck between dark elf's and everyone else that after the wand, it becomes this straight up gunfight through the streets and clubs creating total mayhem.
Although the film does have some flaws, the whole Prophecy feel to the film series does give this a great story to continue on and special when you find out about a certain character, it seems that this Prophecy revolves around him and he a big destiny than he realise's.
This is what I love about this and what makes this a great story, but I can see why most people might hate it or critic slamming being a Netflix original exclusive, which is kind of strange why they didn't put this on the cinema, but it a good job they didn't with the way the critic are reacting.
If you loved alien nation you love this special if you love the fantasy mixed world theme, this is a great film to watch, a film I would recommend watching.
Rating: 5 out of 5 for Entertainment / 8.7 out of 10 for the concept story
Parents advised reading before viewing a film as some scene may contain scenes unsuitable for younger viewers.
- Female nudity - topless dance scene in club
- Main characters walk into a club and a woman is sitting there with no shirt and large breasts with nipples
Violence & Gore:
- Intense scenes of violence involving guns and blades. Bloody gore splashing on walls. Scenes involving watching dying characters as they passed away.
- Use of cussing throughout the entirety of the film. The F word is spammed many times by Will Smith's character, Joel Edgerton's character uses it on occasion, out of frustration and anger.
Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking:
- Snorting drugs in the club scene.
Frightening/Intense Scenes:
- Most likely will be rated TV-MA or R on Netflix.
- This item is rated TV-MA on Netflix.
- This item has been rated TV-MA which is equal to R. Rated R for strong violence and language throughout.

Dislikes : I'll be honest the only real gripe i have here which is the biggest flaw in this film series but it not enough to pull the film down, it needs that narrative at the beginning to really explain how the world ended up in this cross world, I think this would have grounded it more as a story maybe this is why critic are tearing it about. But it not as bad as they are making out to be.
Overall: Good story of a depending prophecy, good action and camera work, a lit flawed in places but a great film series.
