Story: Distraught, confused, and half-wild with fear, Sarah Carter emerges alone from the Appalachian cave system where she encountered unspeakable terrors. Unable to plausibly explain to the authorities what happened - or why she's covered in her friends' blood - Sarah is forced back to the subterranean depths to help locate her five missing companions. As the rescue party drives deeper into uncharted caverns, nightmarish visions of the recent past begin to haunt Sarah and she starts to realize the full horror and futility of the mission. Subjected to the suspicion and mistrust of the group and confronted once more by the inbred, feral and savagely ruthless Crawlers, Sarah must draw on all her inner reserves of strength and courage in a desperate final struggle for deliverance and redemption
Likes: Final a sequel from a director that actually followed from the original perfect using the same setup and actress from the original in this film, which is how a sequel is properly done in continuing a story in the right direction.
Re-cap for those that haven't seen the first film in 2005 the first decent film came out with a story of a group of 6 women who went on a trip after one of their friends had lost a baby, to get it off her mind they decide to go on a cave explore trip that ended in a nightmare fight for survival situation as they get trap underground in a maze of tunnels; but between them and the exit are humanoid creatures out for blood. If you haven't seen this first film I recommend watching it before this one.
What great about this film is that the director and writers I would shake their hands as they got everything almost perfect a few area of the film was off, but when it comes to following from original concept of where each character from the first film was perfectly placed in every detail. This is where they got this film right which is refreshing to see because not many directors and writers get this right so praise to the director and writers of this film. (Not that often I say that).
Descent 2 follow the first film perfect as we see Shauna Macdonald reprise her role as Sarah Carter being a accused of murder by the local sheriffs as they done believe her on what went on during the first film events, just like (Ripley from Aliens) she force to enter the nightmare once again as the all of the local police force and cave experts are trying to find the other girls.
But as before only Sarah know what they are walking into and it once again become a nightmare fight for survival like before as they are confronted by the creatures, although some scene are pretty much predictable because you've seen the first film, there are area in this film that came as a surprise to me after watching the first movie.
This is what makes this a great film, it follows the first movie and gets the same actress and actor to reprise these roles was a brilliant move, as most directors change the actor or actress to play other actors and actress role it doesn't have that continue story feel when you change actors.
This film is still bloodthirst as the first film was with a few unpredictable jumps scene which made me jump. none of this force scares the audience jump with sound, some area was just intense and creep which make this a good sequel.
So if you look for a good horror film to watch if you haven't seen this already, I recommend watching this film.
Dislikes: There was a few point where logic goes out the window, the only part really bad about this film is a very poor ending. Its something we have seen before as we get typical doesn't end well ending which I thought was lame, but the rest of this film was actually good.
Overall: Brilliant continued story use original actress and actor, good follow-on story, a bit of a lame ending but overall a great film.
Rating: 5 out of 5 for Entertainment / 8 out of 10 for concept sequel
