Story: Jake Pentecost, son of Stacker Pentecost, reunites with Mako Mori to lead a new generation of Jaeger pilots, including rival Lambert and 15-year-old hacker Amara, against a new Kaiju threat.
Likes: Pacific Rim: Uprising is set ten years after Stacker Pentecost (Idris Elba) Chuck Hansen ( Robert Kazinsky) Sacrificed their lives to help Raleigh Becket (Charlie Hunnam) and Mako Mori ( Rinko Kikuchi) helped close the breach in the Pacific Ocean, his son Jake Pentecost (John Boyega)returns to the Pan Pacific Defense Corps to help train a new crop of Jaeger cadets in case the Kaiju return.
Comparing the two film, it easier to see which one is the better one out of the two, not that this sequel wasn't good, it watchable and entertaining but sadly the first film was better. What made the original film exciting and interesting is the fact it was a new take on bringing alien Kaiju into a new film, instead of having monster vs monster, they use giant robot battle machines to take them on.
(Scott Eastwood) playing Nate Lambert, you can tell he Clint Eastwood son, just by the way he acts in this film he facial expression you can see a lot of his father in him, playing this role, he was ok but didn't seem to fit the role all too well. (John Boyega) playing Jake Pentecost didn't do a bad performance, although doesn't have the same screen presence of Edris who played his father in the first film, he was that bad.
The one to look out for in future films is (Cailee Spaeny) playing Amara Namani, I young girl who gets caught making her own jagger, get enlist in the jagger core. Her performance in this film is the most outstanding of everyone performance in this film, there is a great talent in this girl with her that brings out her character throughout this film.
Most of the returning character and cast did a great job with this film but sadly certain things kind of make this film an ok film to watch but not a great one.
Dislikes: One of the serval problems this film had no return of Charlie Hunnam character Raleigh Becket other than the brief mention of him, which I found kind disrespectful of his character his he was the one that risked his life to save the world. Personally, I think his character should have returned even if it was for a cameo or playing a role like Edris did.
I'll be honest I don't think this film should've have had a sequel because this film feels the same with robot vs monsters that kind of get boring after a while of watching this film, this is because it offers nothing new.
Why for the love of god did this film feel like a power rangers film towards the end, that just kind of cheapen the film a bit, to be honest, it would have been better if bigger Kaiju just came through instead of doing what they did.
Overall: It a watchable film, not a great one, could've been better.
Rating: 4.6 out of 5 Entertainment / 6.1 out of 10 for the sequel
