Story: In order to get away from their busy lives, the Wilson family takes a vacation to Santa Cruz, California with the plan of spending time with their friends, the Tyler family. On a day at the beach, their young son Jason almost wanders off, causing his mother Adelaide to become protective of her family. That night, four mysterious people break into Adelaide's childhood home where they're staying. The family is shocked to find out that the intruders look like and talk like them, only with grotesque appearances.

Likes: Jordan Peele found his calling with the horror genre especial with the psychological thriller style horror that this is, bear in mind the film not perfect as there are a few flaws in way character react to certain situations, but other than that this was one of the weirdest, screwed up, mind-bending stories ive ever seen in a horror, which leaves you with "what the hell did I just watch" but in a good way.

Through the first and second act, you may go into the film think this film is a mess and what the hell is going on as there is no explanation when things kick off, but I ashore you the film seem to be written this way to completely throw you off guard, here where I find Jordan Peele has this unique style of filming, that draws you in, by the second act your already wondering what the hell is going on as the story plot get bigger until the 3rd act when it cleverly reveals what is going on.

Here in the 3rd act is what make watching the whole film worth it special with the two twists toward the end, with the great performance from Lupita Nyong'o, Winston Duke, Shahadi Wright Joseph and Evan Alex playing two separate people really sell their characters on screen, although the film focus more on Lupita Nyong'o character which this explains perfectly in the 3rd act.

It one of those film if you didn't pick up on the story the first time you watch it, a second viewing or third might be in order for some to understand what's going on, the twist and story behind what is going on is clever and very disturbing.

So don't go into this film with a closed mind and switch you brain on because it, not one of those mindless hack and slash type of films, the plot of is clever in not revealing too much while teasing you with little bit here and there, then the 3rd act reveals the big finally of the film plot which is kind of disturbing because with today this could be possible. it reminds me of strangers come at night with a psychological twist in the story.

Dislikes:
  • There are the moment's in this film where a character says something stupid which kind of happens a little too much, which sometime in the film the humor hits, where other time the humor doesn't fit the moment in the film
  • A few un-logical moments in the writing at certain points with fight or flight situation, but apart from this everything else was fine.
  • Biggest issue this film had was the trailer they revealed too much which took away the fighting aspect of the film

Overall: Twist, dark, weird, great acting, good writing great plot twist, slighty flawed.

Rating: 5 out of 5 for Entertainment / 7.8 out of 10 for the concept
