Parents advised to read before viewing film as some scene may contain scenes unsuitable for younger viewers.
Sex & Nudity: There is a scene in the film that suggests a woman had performed oral sex on a male zombie, but this is implied rather than depicted explicitly.
Violence & Gore: There are frequent scenes of violence involving the zombie-like creatures in the film attacking humans and/or being killed by humans with some details and bloodletting visible.
One of the stronger scenes is a sequence at the beginning of the film depicting people in an airport transforming into zombies and attacking one another viciously.
Some of the other violence depicted in the film include a woman getting punched in the face repeatedly; a woman hitting her forehead repeatedly against the wall until a bloody patch is seen on the wall; a man being stabbed in the stomach; the sight of a man lying in a pool of blood with a gash on the back of his head; etc.
In addition to the airport scene, there is a scene depicting a young man being attacked and killed by a zombie, where the ax can be seen lodged in his chest.
In another scene, a dead man is seen with a bayonet sticking out of his chest.
Given that the violent scenes in the film occur fairly frequently, and are accompanied by some details of injuries and bloodletting, they would be more appropriate for a more mature audience.
Profanity: Some use of the expletive 'f**k' is voiced in moderation in the film, as uttered by the main characters out of frustration and/or for emphasis
Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking: few scene of drinking from certain characters
Frightening/Intense Scenes: This is a sci-fi horror film about a mysterious cell phone signal that transform afflicted phone users into bloodthirsty, zombie-like creatures. In the midst of the apocalyptic chaos, an artist undertakes the seemingly impossible quest to search for his son who is in New England.
Official MPAA Rating: Rated R for disturbing violent content, terror, brief sexuality and language
.
Story: When a strange signal pulsates through all cell phone networks worldwide, it starts a murderous epidemic of epic proportions when users become bloodthirsty creatures, and a group of people in New England are among the survivors to deal with the ensuing chaos after.
Likes : Based on Stephen king novel the cell where the human race's fears have come true where mobile phones become the enemy sent out a world wide signal that changes people. Now i wouldn't go into this film with high expectation because you will come away from this disappointing as it a little predictable in place's.
John Cusack play's a loving father Clay Riddell who hate his ex wife & decide to take a very dangerous journey to get his son who may already be changed or dead , amonst the chaos he meets up with Tom McCourt played by John co star Samuel L. Jackson who plays his role brilliantly, along with a girl Alice Maxwell played by Isabelle Fuhrman, all three take a very perilous journey across the country infested by people who have change in to zombie like hive minds.
This film does hold some very intense moments as well as heart breaking moments, there acting is solid & well directed , unfortunately feels a little short in the story i felt like this should of been a two part mini series like they did with the the stand & IT, not to say this isn't a completely bad film.
This film is good in some way the theme is good yet a little under performing with it story as i feel the story could of had a bit more going on.
The visual effect & concept of the cell phone causing people to turn into hive mind zombie like isn't a bad concept its something fresh & not really done before , kind of remind me of virus few other film mixed in to this story, but just lacks the push to make it a brilliant film, but still good to watch.
Dislikes : Like ive said before the story would have been better if it was a two part mini series story instead of a film , it was a good effort but just fall's short which is why i think this should of been a two part mini series. one thing that lets this film down it leave the film open & not ended the story on a real ending, it was a predictable ending to be honest, but leaving the film ending open ended was very lazy writing which is a shame because this film could have been better.
Overall : Not a bad film, good acting with a ok story just a bit of a let down with it ending.
Rating: 4.3 out of 5 for entertainment / 6 out of 10 for concept.
