Story: In 1942, an intelligence officer in North Africa encounters a female French Resistance fighter on a deadly mission behind enemy lines. When they reunite in London, their relationship is tested by the pressures of war

Likes : Normal when it comes to War film of this type they can be a little boring at time with not much happening , with slow building concept that really make the film boring to watch.

Yet this add a little twist & tension to the film with two spy's working together to take down a target in Morocco, which they fall in love , get marry & have a child together happy as seen in the trailer until one find out the other isn't who they are.

With this film special the first half alot of subtitle use to give a more official language speaking to the film is was ok i didn't mind , but with subtitles which i have said before its ok if you deaf because they have a use but the subtitles tend to take you away from what going on ; on screen.

This is what i love about this film it doesn't reveal to much straight away which is good because it build mystery & intense when the main plot of the film starts to happen.

The first half of the film is spent building up the characters as they go from strangers on a mission to falling in love with each other , this is what i found good because adds a better emotional concept to the film's story.

Marion Cotillard stunning acting playing Marianne Beausejour beautiful french that very good at her job , though the film we get an insight to her character as the film build the story around her, as we discover certain things arnt quite as normal as they appear.

Marion
performance is outstanding , ive only seen her in (Batman dark knight rises play Ras al ghul daughter) , she was brilliant in that film as well, this film she shows her acting skill's playing a loving wife & mother on screen perfect.

Brad Pitt playing the main role Max Vatan flight commander put in yet another fantastic performance giving the character he is portraying a charming yet tough guy when need which really sells the film's character. His onscreen chemistry with Marion really shows on screen making the character more believable in era of WW2.

The costume design is spot on for the time period the film is portray with a lot of grays, dark blue & flowered dress's at 1942 swing party's , long with vehicles & planes which most of C.G.I, not that you could tell but i doubt those planes were still around but i know a few are.

The film visual effect showing London during the what they called the blizts , when Germany bombers shelled London , with the visual effect's of flack fire from heavy AA gun's & search lights really added to the WW2 effects selling the film perfect.

Most of the film revolves around Marion & Brad characters as they process from year to year , it feels like a very warm heart film seeing a loving couple with a young baby , this is until brat pits character found out something about his wife as seen in the trailer.

This is where this film take on a very intense but emotional concept which begs the question do you betray your country for the woman you love or do you do your duty for your country & hand your wife in.

This is perfectly portrayed by Brad which gets really emotional because you can see from his acting with his character he love this woman with all his heart, you can see just how hard it is having to make a choice between someone you love or your country.

The ending of this film WOW i didn't see coming i was almost in tears i kid you not really emotional scene , not sure if anyone has watched ( The book thief ) great film you should check it out ,  it has that same narrative journey from one of the main character.

As this character is speaking with future scene it give us this beautiful & emotional tear jerking moment ending that will have you in tears if you have a heart , this despite one thing i did notice was a very well made film that you will enjoy watching.

Dislikes : There is one moment i did notice through most of the first half of the film , most of this film was using subtitles through most of the french / Turkey speaking yet their was one moment with a main character was speak this language no subtitles were used , but then two guy turn up language was using subtitles. not sure if this was a editing mistake there but it is noticeable.

The car scene the back ground made the car look like it was in front of a green screen which kind of made that scene look fake. Apart from these things the rest of the film is good.

Overall : Great Romantic thriller film set in WW2 , brilliant acting , good costume design.

Rating: 5
out of 5 for entertainment / 8.6 out of 10 for concept.
