Likes : Before i start the review i found out that it's not exactly a 'Netflix-Original'. It Started out as a joint production between Universal and Legendary Films with a budget of 70-million.
After completion Universal studios weren't happy with it & Legendary pictures didn't like their feedback they got for the film which they had a falling out over. It was originally planned for a 2016 summer theatrical release but was canceled , the Chinese-owned Legendary Films shopped around until Netflix picked it up as an already finished movie and branded it as a 'Netflix-Original'.
I can understand why they didn't want to take the risk of a cinema realise but this film was actually dam good , It had great direction & atmosphere to keep the audience grip to the screen so in my opinion this film should of been realise in cinema.
The visual effect are amazing on the spectral ghost like figures , i love the way this film doesnt reveal to much until the end of the film which is away good for a film. This way you keep the audience grip watching every moment of the film while giving them entertainment.
There is gonna be moments in this film where you gonna be thinking their are plot holes with certain things throughout the film , but the film does pretty much explain this toward the end of the film if you playing attention to the film.
The concept is imaginative & brilliantly done in a way it gives you that cold chill down your spin even though this is a sci-fi / thriller not a horror film , what it cleverly does is slow give you glimpse of these things & what i mean is these thing are lethal & fast.
What keep the suspense is the fact these things are invisible to the naked eye you have no idea where they are or where they are gonna come from , which make this a great film that grips you to every moment.
The performances from the soldiers (including the extras) through out the film are well choreographic & extremely believable; as they spoke with clear intent and purpose -throughout their mission to tackle this threat.
This show's a lot of care & passion have gone in to this film with the action as well as its choreographed throughout the film , I found the sound design to be brilliantly done and matched the (visual) FX and corroborated the story being told.
The dialog from character being portrayed on screen made good sense , and there was a particularly excellent focus on information when things were slowly being revealed & conveyed back and forth throughout the characters' interplay it very good.
The film also is heavily "on- the-ground" military action along with it brilliant concept of an unstoppable force , if there is one film you should watch this is one.
I dont know what type of reception this film got when it was first revealed , but director Nic Mathieu has made a brilliant film here that a cross between final fantasy spirit from within & black hawk down.
Dislikes : This film should of been a cinema realise i think it would have gotten a better reception because this is a well made film. On netflix it not gonna get the views that much as not everyone has netflix's.
Overall : Brilliant sci-fi thriller , brilliant direction & concept one of the best sci-fi film ive seen in a long time.
Rating: 5 out of 5 for Entertainment / 10 out of 10 for Concept
