Frightening/Intense Scenes: 'Rings' is a horror film from 'The Ring' series which centers on a cursed videotape and the fate which befalls the viewers unless they are able to pass on the curse.
Various depictions of horror can be perceived as more realistic and intense in the film.
The film contains some scenes containing depictions of horror.
In the stronger scenes, a menacing-looking girl with long hair climbs out of a television set and kills her victims, leaving them with distorted faces.
The film also contains disturbing images such as a dead child in a box; a woman throwing a bag over a young girl's head and tossing her down a well; and a woman choking and coughing out long hairs from her mouth and a large fly emerging from a mass of hair.
Nevertheless, these portrayals can be permissible for a teen audience. Parental guidance strongly advised.
Story: Julia becomes worried about her boyfriend, Holt, when he explores the dark urban legend of a mysterious video said to kill the watcher seven days after viewing. She sacrifices herself to save her boyfriend and in doing so makes a horrifying discovery: there is a "movie within the movie" that no one has ever seen before
Likes : Going in to this film i wasn't expecting much has it kind of the same theme as the other two film's , you watch the video you die in 7 days so don't expect anything different there. Alot of people we're confused to whether this is a reboot , i can confirm it not a reboot as it set a few years after the events of Naomi Watts character from the 2nd film when they found the body of Samara in the well.
But clearly with the events of this film it shows that Samara wasn't put to rest m hence the reason why she's returned , this is cause a problem of events which a collage professor become obsessed with but put lives in harm way to uncover the truth of the supernatural.
The film has this very clever twist which lead the main character Julia ( Matilda Anna Ingrid Lutz ) down a path that will ultimately be her undoing , as well as giving a background to where Samara first came from this film really has that something extra to give the audience.
Although i wouldn't say this film is frightening , there are a few moments where the film does get under your skin special as the film's main concept is revealed. Unlike the other film this one is more of a dark mystery to under cover the origins of Samara , which is interest as it not really explain that well in other film's.
The concept of this one is more about rebirth than death , but still gives the audience the gruesome rotting corpse look on the victim of Samara which as we learn is fast acting. Which is really messed and creepy when it comes to demons.
Although this film is actually good , the ending is pretty predictable special knowing what we know from previous film's about Samara evil never really dies. The acting is pretty solid plus the flow of the film is on a steady pace thoughtout for a third film , its not bad considering the theme is the same as the other two so it done this well to actually get a third film that give the origins of Samara.
I would recommend this film if you love the first two film's special giving this one give you a back ground of Samara.
Dislikes : The film doesnt give any details of what the demon is in Samara but i wonder if this is for a later film maybe the last final film to stop her once and for all , but i would of like some back ground on the demon.
Overall : Great third film giving a origins of Samara , great acting , solid continue story.
Rating: 5 out of 5 for Entertainment / 7.9 out of 10 for continue story
