Likes: “Kingsman’s” sequel, “The Golden Circle,” isn't a bad film, but it doesn't live up to the first film. It still has the same spy action and the plot is decent enough, especially for a sequel, but it never quite reaches the same level as the first.
The British/American theme works well together, although cultural jokes and references don't seem to match all that well, which I will attribute to poor script writing. Don't get me wrong- there are some moments where this film is funny- but it just wasn't enough, in my opinion, to be funny. Some scenes just slightly ruin the film from being hilarious- without a doubt this sequel has some major flaws that could've been better.
Granted, the CGI was glaringly obvious throughout the film and slightly painful in certain scenes, but it allowed the film to create these brilliantly imagined and engaging action scenes which the first film based it the success and word of mouth upon. Without it, the action scenes would be gunfights like we have seen hundreds of times before.
Although there is no scene on the same level as “The Church Scene” in the first film, “The Diner Scene” at the end does come close, with Pedro Pascal's "Skipping Rope" as a weapon adding something new and slightly sickening as he cuts through one Italian guard like a hot knife through butter. As well as two cyborg dogs, this film does offer some entertainment. All in all, the film was okay, but I would wait for it to come out on DVD or Netflix before watching.
Dislikes :- One of the flaws this movie does is keep's zooming in on unnecessarily pointing during action scene which is about annoying as the shaky camera.
- Some of the jokes fell flat and the vulgar and childish humour kind of ruin the comedy in the film.
- The other problem with this film is its comedy and shock value didn't mix which put the film off balance, sadly this is why the film wasn't as good as the original.
Overall: Not as good as the original, Entertainment to a point, comedy is ok but falls flat.
