Parents advised reading before viewing the film as some scenes may contain scenes unsuitable for younger viewers.

Sex & Nudity:
  • Arthur is seen dancing around in his underwear in his bathroom.
  • In the trailer, A strip-club appears on screen for five seconds behind Arthur promoting a sale at a store.
  • Sophie and Arthur kiss briefly.
  • Arthurs's journal contains pictures of nude women. Very brief, and easy to miss.
  • There are some briefly glimpsed images of models posing naked.
  • There are mentions of sexual roleplay in relationships by a comedian. However, the scene cuts away before the joke gets graphic.
  • In a scene where Arthur receives a phone call, he can be seen in the background, laying on his bed with his hand moving suggestively in his underwear. It's hard to catch

Violence & Gore:
  • Arthur is whacked in the face and thrown to the ground
  • Scenes of strong violence include stabbings and shootings, with accompanying bloody injury detail.

Profanity:
  • There is strong language 'fuck' throughout, as well as milder terms such as 'prick', 'asshole' and 'shit'.
  • Most of the profanity in the film is either spread out and infrequent. The profanity is mainly used in quick succession within emotional outbursts or spoken under one's breath.

Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking:
  • The trailer shows the Joker smoking a cigarette
  • Lots of smoking and drinking in the film
  • Arthur Fleck is smoking in every other scene.
  • Arthur shows a reliance on medication to "fix" his condition. Many pill bottles are seen throughout the film, usually empty, already taken.

Frightening/Intense Scenes:
  • This film is intensely dark, disturbing, frightening and shocking that some viewers might be disturbed by.

Story: Joker centers around an origin of the iconic arch nemesis and is an original, standalone story not seen before on the big screen. Todd Phillips' exploration of Arthur Fleck (Joaquin Phoenix), a man disregarded by society, is not only a gritty character study but also a broader cautionary tale.

Likes: WOW you could easily watch this without realizing its a comic book movie and think it a dark twisted drama, holy hell Joaquin Phoenix performance was the best ive ever seen him do. Disturbing, the dark and twisted performance of a man's journey into despair, depression, madness and psychological damage into a deranged psychopath.

This has alot of the killing joke vibe to it as we see how society breaks this man down to become the villain we all know giving us a perfect origin story that actually set up batman perfectly if they wanted to join this film, but mostly this film focuses mainly on Arthur Fleck journey into madness.

With the way the film is set up and filmed with the score of the film, it's like watching a dark twisted Martin Scorsese movie like the Taxi Driver and King of Comedy, I wouldn't call this a thriller more like a Dark twist humor drama film that gives a new take on DC villian the joker which set the standard for all Dc films which could easily fit in the Synder DC universe.

Alot the media controversy going on about the film Glorifying violence is just stupid, clear they think the joker is some hero that not meant to be portrayed that way when clearly they never read a comic book in there lives to understand who the joker is.

Yes, the joker is a psychologically damaged derange psychopath that thrives of chaos and Anarchy, because of the way society treated him and the life he had. It reflects all serial killers at heart because the Joker inst a hero film, its a Villian's origin story done perfectly in a way that  Joaquin Phoenix deserves an Oscar for his performance. Not only that this film deserves to win serval Oscars for Best Picture, ScreenPlay, Cinematography, Actor, Score, and Director. This truly was a masterpiece film to watch, disturbing and haunting in every way in screenplay and performance from an oscar winner actor like Phoenix.

Dislikes: The only two I found were minor flaws pacing not so much an issue though it is a slow driven film, which to be honest you dont really film when you watching Joaquin performance on screen, does tend to drag a little at times.

A TV commercial featuring the Energizer Bunny. The film takes place in 1981, but the Energizer Bunny was not introduced until 1988.

Overall: Dark twisted humor, Perfect character development ina descent into darkness, Joaquin Phoenix is phenomenal as aurther fleck.

Rating: 5 out of 5 for Entertainment / 9.8 out of 10 Origin story
