Story: Nine years after an infection turns most of the humanity into rabid creatures, Patrick, Jack and Lu, a nine-year-old girl, survive in seeming peace and calm in the forgotten snow-covered town of Harmony. We nonetheless sense that something terrible happened between Patrick and Jack because a deep hate keeps them apart. When the infected appear again, Patrick and Jack will have to leave behind all rancor to protect the one being who means more to them than anything else.

Likes : At first i was thinking this was going to another one of those silly stupid zombie low budget film, but this surprised me in being much more, this is not a zombie film which people seem to be saying in every review, i swear no one know the difference between a vampire to a zombie.
This is a cross between iam legend, 30 days of night & decent rolled in to one film with creatures i would call blind vampiric hybrid mutation that hunt by sound.
The story of the film jump right in to actually putting the audience on edge, right before thing hit the fan, but then jump nine year on after, which was OK but these two start scene had flaws which i'l explain in dislike.
The acting is pretty good from Matthew fox play a broke man after the event of nine year ago, there are some point your thinking that he lost his mind which is funny, but he performance in this film is actually good. Quinn McColgan who play the little girl brilliant performance from a child star which most of her scene are cute but she has some pretty intense scene through out the film.
Jeffrey Donovan playing the loving father who dose his best to keep her Lu safe, teach her maths & English as well as being a parent which is tough on him. Clara Lago character kind of a cameo role as she just turn up out of know where her scene are pretty brief as she dosent really turn up until mid way through the film.
The story its self is good, the haven't use to much C.G.I which is actually what works for the film, as most of the scene with the creature are props make up effects with blood effects make the skin look white is good creature design, it made them pretty evil & frightening, with pretty intense moments.
To be honest most of the review pulling this film down ive see reviews for some of the most terrible zombie film that have been praised, yet this get a thump down......seriously this is a good effort for a creature feature type sub genre horror film that is pretty entertainment despite the flaws.

Overall : The only two mistake are in the story writing so this is down to the writers fault here, which are to plot hole in the film. First is the begin there is no explanation to what is going on with people turning were just throw in to a story that were supposed to assume is some infection cause this.
Plus the scene after the first part at the beginning after nine years we see that the earth has suffered some kind of  apocalypse event like an ice age which isn't explained iver.
I think this is where this film could of done with a bit more background like narrative or something to explain what is going ; which is missing from the film, but apart from this if you can over look these two this film is a actually pretty good if you accept it for what it is as it not an Oscar winning film, not meant to be.

Rating: 5 out of 5 for entertainment / 6.2 out of 10 for concept.
