Likes : This film is Courteney Cox’s first directorial debut, staring Seann William Scott who plays Ted, a 41-year-old pet supply store manager with no wife and no kids and no drive that feels life has let him down from childhood become empty because of it. He decides to end his life, but before doing so he takes a trip back to his hometown to confront some old demons.
this film take on some serious matters which i can relate to special when life can be so cruel & nothing ever work, you try everything to turn your life around but there is always a door that just wont open for you, it dose make you feel so alone but whats worst is it make you feel so empty with yourself you feel what the point of being around, this film shows this perfect in place.
Most of the some what comical side comes from Kate Walsh who plays ted sister in-law, she a has a few R-rated scenes which some of them can be funny depending on your sense of humor, Kyle Gallner plays the son, now this role touch on a very seriously & some what touchy subject of sexuality & how some people can deal with being gay where other find it more difficult to handle being gay because of the way other treat people like that, it comes across perfect in this film.
The film dose have its moment & dose really make you think about life in drama side of the film which give the movie a slight mellow drama feel which is what keeps the film interesting, so in a way this isn't a bad film despite the few flaws.
Dislikes : Courteney directing isn't to bad but dose come across as trying to hard to make the comedy & drama mix well together in curtain scene, as it really doesn't work so well, the comedy kind of miss fire at time's making the scene slightly awkward & messy as the scene is trying to be serious but trying to hard to be comical at the same time which sadly dosent come off right.
Overall : Not a bad film, Good for a one time view, pretty funny in places & a bit awkward in others, but worth watching.
Rating: 4.7 out of 5 for entertainment / 7.9 out of 10 for story-line
