Likes : WOW get ready to roll those tears because by the end of the film that is what's gonna happen , this is not a film about hero's this is a film about absolute courage against death to survive a doomed oil rig that cost the lives of 11 men. Most of you have probaley seen this disaster on the news in 2010, for though of you that didn't know:
Deepwater Horizon was an ultra-deepwater, dynamically positioned, semi-submersible offshore drilling rig owned by Transocean. Built in 2001 in South Korea by Hyundai Heavy Industries, the rig was commissioned by R&B Falcon, a later asset of Transocean, registered in Majuro and leased to BP from 2001 until September 2013. In September 2009, the rig drilled the deepest oil well in history at a vertical depth of 35,050 ft (10,683 m) and measured depth of 35,055 ft (10,685 m) in the Tiber Oil Field at Keathley Canyon block 102, approximately 250 miles (400 km) southeast of Houston, in 4,132 feet (1,259 m) of water.
On 20 April 2010, while drilling at the Macondo Prospect, an uncontrollable blowout caused an explosion on the rig that killed 11 crewmen and ignited a fireball visible from 40 miles (64 km) away. The fire was inextinguishable and, two days later, on 22 April, the Horizon sank, leaving the well gushing at the seabed and causing the largest oil spill in U.S. waters.
This film visual effect are incredible in showing just how bad & how serious thing can get if something goes wrong on a oil rig , like most true life stories these film can draw on you emotions which this one did.
It an emotionally charged dramatic intense film to watch, you just can't imagine the fear these men had in real life when this happen , what i didnt know which the film shows is that this disaster could of been avoided which is why BP official offer was charged with manslaughter of 11 men who didnt stand a chance of survival.
Mark Wahlberg , Kurt Russell & John Malkovich put in stella performances that did this film honor , Gina Rodriguez was brilliant in playing a very brave woman Andrea Fleytas who was one of the last to get off the rig in what i could describe as hell its self.
All casting done this film justice in & in memory of those that lost their lives 20th april 2010 , one thing i did notice with this film is the fact it should've been a 12A this film is at least 15 cert due to the nature of the film.
It a very compelling story being told very intense you can help by feel sorry for those that never stood chance , this film does a great job at building the tension right up to the moment it happens which just take your breath away in shock.
Though most of the film you could see what was coming it show just how dangerous it can be drilling this is why safe check are paramount before drilling , with Deepwater horizon due to pressure of being late on drilling the hole they see the warning but it was ignored by BP officer which as you can see from the film result in the oil rig become engulfed in a massive fire ball that rip the rig apart killing 11 men in the process & seriously injuring others.
Mark Wahlberg alone was incredible in this film showing true courage in the face of death to rescue others which i assume the character he playing did on the day. But this true is the a film that is a must to watch as this is well written & honor those that lost their lives with a well made story show the bravery of these works.
Dislikes : Nothing wrong with this film.
Overall : Deepwater Horizon will provide the emotional thrills you want. A fantastic CGI design that's brimming with emotion and suspense.
Rating: 5 out of 5 for entertainment / 10 out of 10 for true story event.
