Parents advised to read before viewing film as some scene may contain scenes unsuitable for younger viewers.
Sex & Nudity: None
Violence & Gore: There are various scenes of violence in the film where some monsters are killed with some brief blood spurting visible
Profanity: None
Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking: pipe is seen being smoked by the main character
Frightening/Intense Scenes: Various depictions of horror in the film can be seen as more realistic and intense towards young viewers.
Some of the scenes where the monsters take out the eyes of their victims could be frightening for younger viewers.
One of the stronger scenes depicts a huge monster attacking a man from behind. It then plunges its tentacles into the man's eye sockets, plucking out his eyeballs, before devouring them.
Other frightening scenes include one that features black-and-white photographs of people with hollowed-out eye sockets, as well as some scenes where scary-looking puppets made up of animal parts come alive to battle each other, with the winner brandishing the loser's heart.
Such depictions would make the film more appropriate for a teen audience.

Likes : Im gonna have to be real honest with this review not alot of people are gonna like me for being this honest , because if this is all Tim Burton can offer now yes it had the Tim burton trade make dark, weird mysterious but this was not his best work by far.
Although i havent read the book i did some research so i know this story was written by American author Ransom Riggs. The book tells the tale of a boy who, following a horrific family tragedy, follows clues that take him to an abandoned orphanage on a Welsh island. The story is told through a combination of narrative and vernacular photographs from the personal archives of collectors listed by the author.
This young adult book was originally intended to be a picture book featuring photographs Riggs had collected, but on the advice of an editor at Quirk Books, he used the photographs as a guide from which to put together a narrative. Riggs was a collector of photographs, but needed more for his novel. He met Leonard Lightfoot, a well-known collector at the Rose Bowl Flea Market, and was introduced to other collectors. The result was a story about a boy who follows clues from his grandfather's old photographs which lead him on an adventure that takes him to a large abandoned orphanage on a Welsh island.
The book has been a New York Times best seller. It reached the #1 spot on the Children's Chapter Books list on April 29, 2012 after being on the list for 45 weeks, remaining there until 20 May, when it dropped to the fourth spot on the list. Critics have generally praised the book for creative use of vintage photographs as well as good characterization and settings.
Dont get me wrong i feel the acting from child actors was brilliantly done Eva Green brilliant as always playing the children protector, Asa Butterfield did a brilliant job with his role, other characters were more side character for the film in a way didn't really have that much speaking roles.
Ella Purnell shined in this film more that the other did as she plays a sort of love interest Asa character, some of the visual effects were brilliant in selling the film concept. Samuel L. Jackson playing the creepy villain of the film done great with what he was given.
Sadly the only things that stood out for this film was the acting & visual effect, other that this film was a let down on one major thing which i explain in dislikes.
Dislikes : Dont get me wrong the film stands out on it acting from casting & visual effect but sadly this is massively let down by the film pacing , a 2h 7min film should of had more action happening because as this film stands the lack of action the slow pacing makes this the worst film Tim burton has done.
The lack of action & slow pacing make this film boring as hell to watch , your sitting there wait for it to pick up but just doesnt almost the whole 1hr 40mins this is what's let this film down, because its acting & visual effect are good.
Overall : Lacking the pacing it boring to watch, great visual effect & acting are good.
Rating: 3.4 out of 5 for entertainment / 6.3 out of 10 for concept.
