Story: American security guard Richard Jewell saves thousands of lives from an exploding bomb at the 1996 Olympics, but is vilified by journalists and the press who falsely reported that he was a terrorist.
Likes: After watching this film, which alot of you may not know of if you were born after 1996 when bill clinton was president at the time, an event involving a terrioest kill and injury several people are a music event, but some lives were save by a heroic security guard Richard Jewell who was later falsely accused of being involved.
There is always something great about the directing of Clint Eastwood films as he bring an emotional but interesting style in bring true event to light, especial with this movie as it shred a true light on how the media operate how they spread false lies and take no responsibility for their action with facts or the truth they just run smear articles and false news which is still happening today.
This is why Richard was caught in the middle of FBI and Media harassment being accused of involvement when all he did was his job the media just ran false lies and propaganda on the poor guy which is portrayed throughout the film and brilliantly by Paul Walter Hauser. To be honest this should be a wake up call film for the media today, to stop with the false lies and propaganda through hate for one person.
It actually wasn't just Atlanta-Journal Constitution paper the broke the story of the FBI's interest in Mr. Jewell, it was also CNN, NBC, the New York Times and a host of other news outlets that were complicit in crucifying an innocent security guard doing his job that spotted the explosive backpack.
This film portrays Richard Jewell as a hero that he should have been from the start, the media owes have a massive apologize to his family. Sadly Richard past away on August 29, 2007 (aged 44) after getting his dream job to become a law enforcement officer, but still should be reconised as a hero which thankfully this film does in a way with it brilliant direction and emotional acting which bring a film you should watch as it exposes the media for the propaganda they are.
Dislikes: Pacing was a little bit of an issue, but still a good film
Overall: Great directing, good acting, interest true story, exposing the media, story of a hero false accused.
Rating: 5 out of 5 for entertainment / 8 out of 10 for True story.
