Likes : Generally when horror film are released in January you can expect to lower you're expectation for it actually being good , as with this film i kind of knew what i was getting into with the bad reviews this film has be getting.

Yes the film reviews being negative are actually justified on this one for once , not that it wasn't a seriously bad film but it wasn't good by any means possible.
The film is based off a book called "The Bridge to Body Island" which seem to be a loose title since the film portrays something different , there are element in this film that are genuinely creepy but there are some seriously stupid moments that shouldn't of been in the film in the first place.

What great about the film is it concept which sadly has been wasted with this film , but it had potential to actually be frightening and give the audience a serious scare.
With Doug Jones playing the "bye bye man" he's the only good part about this film , as he came off really creepy in place although the make up could've look more sinister on him which i think it would have made his character look more scarier.

The film does have it moment's when it gets weird & a little creepy specially parts with the Dog , some moments can be a little creep special when you in bed you see something like that in the darkness of cupboard (spoiler alert) With only seeing the eyes in the dark which can be creepy.

As for the acting side of this film sadly its not that great as there are moment's that certain actor/actress in this film come off unbelievable in their characters they are portraying , which i think is down to a script writing problem and not the actor/actress themselves.

Sadly there isnt much good i can say about this film as too many flaws & plot holes drag this film down , i feel this film has been poorly executed on screen , could've been better portrayed as the concept had potential to be really frightening.

Dislikes : Few major problems this film has is no back ground story of the "bye bye man" on who he is? why is he killing people? why does he only come to his name being called? , None of this is explained in the film which give no build up or creepiness to explain what is actually happening.

As ive said some of the script writing is poorly done giving these character a an unbelievable concept , which ruin the flow of the film's which make the movie come off bad on screen.

The wall paper scene seriously why for the love of good did anyone think that would come off brilliant or good on screen , i mean come on this is not a good thing to put in a film. If you were gonna do a scene like this , it should've been done with a "photo" or "painting" and not wall paper.

This is why the horror genre is dieing when director think jump scares make a great scary horror film  sadly it does the opposite ,  using cheap jump scares to frighten the audience show the director hasn't got a clue in what make a film scary.

This is sad when director does this because you might as well of post the horror in a pg certification when they do things like this.
It's such a shame because the main concept of this film is very similar to the ring & one miss call type movie , which had potential to actually work as a horror film. But sadly this film is such a bad mess with it's "concept" , "acting" and the final nail in the coffin was the jump scares which make this a very poor film that's been badly written.

The pacing was just too slow which made this film relay boarding to watch. Dont think it , don't say it dont watch it , really bad should've been a straight to dvd not cinema.

Overall : Shockley bad , full of jump scares , poor scripted writing , boring.

Rating: 3 out of 5 for entertainment / 3.5 out of 10 for horror concept
