Likes : This was actually the first time i watched this film which which was a great find that came out in 2003 , it was nominated for 13 Bafta awards of outstanding British film of the year film director and screenplay (adapted) along with best actor and supporting actress also won the golden globe award.
Let be honest after watching this film it well deserved , It very similar to gone with the wind in certain way but not so long as that film. The concept of the farm is a farm owner instead of a plantation owner which set it apart from gone with the wind , set in the height of the civil war between the north and south.
The directing in this film is brilliantly done in a way to keep the audience intrigued to see what gonna happen next , sometime with this type of film it can get boring at time but this film manges to actually keep in flow and edge throughout the film progress.
Special the brilliantly and outstanding performance for the two main stars of this film Jude law & Nicole Kidman who made this film for what it is which was inspiring, emotional & heartbreaking , Along with the supporting actress Renée Zellweger who was absolutely funny which im not sure whether they wrote her in that way but she really did come off a little comedic at time.
What great about this film is really shows just how tough the living way for people during these times of conflict which show brilliantly in portraying this on screen , Although so scene can be brutal at times this is what give this film its edge to be a more realistic concept.
Special the supporting cast this film was almost a all star cast which is great for this type of film , special when you have great actors and actress giving great side roles it make this film worth watching. Bare in mind this is not your typical love story where the lover goes away and come back with welcome arm rides in to the sunset with his girl . no this film doesnt have it emotional moments the ending is a bit of tear jerker.
If you havent already seen this film i recommend it as it this is a great film in its genre , that you will enjoy watching if it your type of film.
Dislikes : nothing wrong with this film great directing.
Overall : Emotional , inspiring , heartbreaking and funny , a must watch.
