Story: The monster does not come walking often. This time it comes to Conor, and it asks for the one thing Conor cannot bring himself to do. Tell the truth. This is a very touching story about a boy who feels very damaged, guilty and mostly angry. He struggles at school with bullies, and pity looks from everyone, and at home with his mother's sickness. Will Conor overcome his problems? Will everything be okay? Will Conor be able to speak the truth?

Likes : As film's go this movie just blow me away with it's amazing intelligent complex storytelling , along with it's seamless C.G.I effects and great acting this film delivers one hell of emotional film that you will surly love. The story's main focus revolves around a young boy by name of Conor played brilliantly by Lewis MacDougall , he's performance on screen is amazing in portraying a young boy struggling with reality to come to terms with what happening.

This maybe a film that some people will struggle to understand or might not like this film because of it complex storytelling , but it's done in a such a way it use's the concept of Conors character struggling with reality in such a way with all the "angry", "hate" and "sadness", it's manifested in to this tree like monster which is beautiful designed.

Liam Neeson was the perfect choice for the voice of the monster portraying the child anger & fears as he give the child 3 story's which you're probable wont get at first ,  but by the end of the film you will understand this concept & what is being given across to the audience.

If you haven't already seen this film i would recommend it special for it storytelling which is pretty hard to do in these types of film's , but director
J.A. Bayona has done a brilliant job at taking a story from a book & portraying  it on screen in a brilliant way.

Be-warned that this film may upset some viewers as this film does involve subject that are close to the heart with emotional and heartbreaking moments for most family's today deal with , which adds to this film emotional parts that just bring you to tears.
Which is why the ending was even more dramatic and sad , along with it sound track this film emotional scene serious hit you where you feel. This is differently one film you shouldn't miss , as this is one of the best film's ive seen in this genre.

Dislikes : Nothing wrong with this film.

Overall : Haunting beautiful , dark and emotional . a must to see.

Rating: 5 out of 5 for entertainment / 9.8 out of 10 for concept
