Story: The next installment in the blockbuster franchise, UNDERWORLD: BLOOD WARS follows Vampire death dealer, Selene (Kate Beckinsale) as she fends off brutal attacks from both the Lycan clan and the Vampire faction that betrayed her. With her only allies, David (Theo James) and his father Thomas (Charles Dance), she must stop the eternal war between Lycans and Vampires, even if it means she has to make the ultimate sacrifice.

Likes : What more sexier than a woman in leather? a sexy British actress playing Selene who's a sexy female vampire character with style that we all love & know from previous films , to which this character made her first screen debut as selene in 2003.

Kate beckinsale
is back in true style giving us a brilliant performance as the once outcast vampire selene. She is now on the run from contract kill order that's has been place on her after the events of the previous film's , this was place on her by the only remain vampire covenant that is left due to the war with the Lycans.

The negative reviews from some people even tho it's their opinion that they are entitled to , it's very unjustified negative reviews when this film isnt has bad as most people are making it out to be.

Yes there are area in this film that could've been better done i will admit that , but there is alot about this film that is actually good. The choreography of this film with the visual effect are brilliantly done using some of the same effect as the previous films , also some new effects that show's the true evolution of the true vampire ability's range.

What i mean by true evolution of the vampire ability's is what we've seen before with the vampire covenants in previous films isnt really the true form of the vampires.
There is an evolution that give the vampire ability's that we have already seen in certain other things before which actually works for this movie concept , which i can't give away in details without giving away spoilers.

What great about this film is that some people we're asking about the whereabouts of Michael from the last film's , which im happy to reveal this film does give you the answer to this question if your paying attention to the film which most people don't these day's.

Theo James playing David who has a much bigger role to play than we expect when we saw him in underworld awakening , he discovers a secret about his self which threats the power of a certain vampire to which they carving power for themselves. He performance on screen is great in portraying this with a commanding presence giving a believe character on screen.

Charles Dance playing Thomas the father of  David is a welcome addiction to this franchise ,  his screen presence is a little short like a cameo which is surprising for such a great actor. Although i feel he should've had more screen time as his acting in this film was brilliant although short , it not surprising he play a vampire again as he did in Dracula untold.

Clementine Nicholson performance was also brilliant although she had a bit more screen time than Charles she played a brilliant vampire race that swore off violence , as you can see in the film although they swore off violence they are far from not being able to defending themselves if need.

With the special effect of her movement which was just outstanding in showing what type of vampire she is , which added some flare to performance and her moments on screen as the vampire race that have swore of violence.

Bradley James
who plays Varga came across on screen like he was royalty just by the way he was standing , but damme was this character an arrogant little pr**k that you just want to punch in the face.
Bradley play this typical vampire solider who i assume is a elite guard with an attitude problem thinking his the best who has swore to protect the person in charge , but his characters arrogance push selene a little bit to which there is a bit of hostility between them.
This comes off brilliant in his performance which sell the character better , special when your playing this type of person

Tobias Menzies play the leader of the Lycan who actually didnt do a bad job with this role he came off on screen as a man you don't want to cross ,  which is good for the character he was playing on screen giving the audience a believable antagonist on screen.
Although the some scene where a little weak , he portrayed this character pretty well giving the audience a believable villain for film.

Dispite this film being a brilliant thoughtout it's not without it's flaws as some area of this film were kind of miscasted where over areas could of been improved , that's not to say this film was really bad as every film has it's own flaw's but for the 5th installment of this franchise this is pretty good.

It's choreography & stunt work are brilliant done in fight scene along with the visual effect which are perfectly done , it give the film a bit more of an edge keeping this franchise alive.
If you a fan of the other Underworld film's you may or may not like this film , just depend of your taste of films as everyone has their own opinion.

Dislikes : Thankfully this film only had 3 flaws other wise it would have been a complete disaster , first flaw in the film is the begin of the film , it didnt really need the flash back of the previous film as we already know the story already. This part of the film could of been used to start the film with a slow build up , instead we get throw in to the action straight away with no build up this i feel was a mistake.

The two miscasting i was on about not that they didnt do a great job with their roles ,  i feel these two character could of been better with different actress and actor doing these role below.

  • Lara Pulver playing Semira her performance was good and she slightly came off ok playing this role , but the way her character was being portrayed on screen is very similar to a Eva Green performance in manor & presence.

Which brings me to say i think this role would have been better given to Eva Green , reason why i feel this is because i feel she would of had a better on screen presence with this character portrayal.

  •  Peter Andersson playing Vidar again he performance is great but again he just didnt seem to fit this character he was portraying on screen , i think this role should of been given to some one like Lee Pace.

The reason why i think this is the character being portrayed by peter seem to have this charismatic charm , this is something Lee Pace is good at playing with his acting skill as he's played these role before.

These are only the flaws i found in this film really.

Overall
: Great 5th installment to the franchise , might not be the last one , brilliant vampire story worth watching.

Rating: 5 out of 5 for Entertainment / 8.7 out of 10 for concept
